Secret Passageways Go Mainstream

24 October 2008 105 views No Comment

Secret passageways– the staple of gothic horror flicks– are actually available for installation in regular homes! A company called Creative Home Engineering is making it possible, with a range of designs superbly combining form and function.

I always got a kick out of seeing the shadowy anti-hero/vampire pull the out the certain book or bend the candlestick and watch as the unassuming bookcase swung open to reveal a sinister entrance. To where? A dungeon? A secret laboratory? A prison for some feral humanoid dragging its knuckles and wailing “Why, oh why was I created?”….Well nowadays, it would likely just lead to a broom closet or porn stash, but still, the idea is pretty damn cool…Now if only someone made those paintings with the cut out eyeholes, I’d be in gothic heaven!
