A Perfect Circle’s Awesome Rune Font

A Perfect Circle Font

Its been over 8 years since the debut of A Perfect Circle– a band which took the songwriting skills and subtle guitar work of Billy Howerdel and the mournful vocals of Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan and fused them into an artistic whole. Unfortunately, the supergroup has disbanded and all members have moved on to other projects…

Mer De Noms, APC’s first album (and surely one of the most beautiful albums of the decade) showcased remarkable artistry, from the hard-soft dynamic, 6/8 timing to the liberal use of atmospheric effects.

The CD art included cryptic characters which were revealed to be a substitution font for English letters. Here is the key. The phrase on the cover is thus translated to mean:
“LA CASCADE DES PRENOMS”, i.e. “The Waterfall of First Names”.

The font, called “APC text”, or “Elegant Mayan” has been used in several places, ranging from artwork to tattoos, but for some reason has been very difficult to find on the internet. I dug up this .ttf file on archive.org for those interested:

>>>Download A Perfect Circle font

To use, download the above file and put it in your “Fonts” folder found in the Windows control panel. Then look for the font name “runes” in MS Word, (or whatever program you are using) and type in uppercase letters for the APC runes.

That’s it for now, so I guess I’ll sign off by saying:

apc rune font - elegant mayan

    @Valentiores
    I think the translation is actually “A Waterfall of Names” if you’re talking about the Album Title “Mer de Noms.” (That’s the Latin translation at least.)
    @Monse
    No the Mayans used a forme of hieroglyphics known as logosyllabics.

    Hey many thanks for the up load although I’m having issues with it now.

    I uploaded and it worked the first time, now it will not open and I can’t seem to get it to appear in the fonts. Have downloaded and moved to folder at least 10 times now.

    This is just wonderful!! Now I’ve been searching for more information and I can’t find who created this runes and when. I’d love to know that, I wouldn’t be surprised if it comes from Adam Jones, but I’m not sure if he was involved. Well if anyone has an answer or some directions to help me find something else, I’ll be glad.

    THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE FONT!!
